This next strategy section on Omaha High Low
playable hands assumes that you are comfortable
playing our beginner hands. This strategy
section will add additional playable hands to
your list of hands to play and will discuss
table position for these hands as well.
Intermediate Omaha High Low Starting
Hands
These hands can be played near
the front, in middle position and late position.
These are hands that you can call a raise with
or if you are in middle position you can raise
with them when you are up against weak players.
Raise with these hands when you are in late
position and there has not been much action
pre-flop.
A-2-6-7, A-2 with any pair, A-2-5-10, A-2-6-8
etc...
A-3-5-7, A-2-J-10, A-3-6-8, A-2-Q-10 etc…
2-3-4-5, 2-3-4-6, 2-3-5-6 – must flop an Ace
to continue playing this starting hand.
A-K-Q-J, A-K-J-10, A-Q-J-10 etc…
A-A-K-K, K-K-Q-Q, K-K-J-J
You now have many more hands to play. This
will help make the Omaha High Low much more
exciting for you. As a developing intermediate
player, I recommend sticking to the hands listed
above as well as the beginner hands we talked
about in our beginner strategy.
When playing any of your Omaha High Low hands
be sure to play hands that work with the flop. I
always recommend folding hands that don’t work
with the flop and put you in a good position to
win.
Continue to play and practice in low limit
Omaha High Low poker games. When you are
comfortable playing your expanded hand selection
it is time to add even more starting hands. Be
sure to read our advanced Omaha High Low
starting hands guide when you are ready to add
more hands to your list of playable Omaha High
Low poker hands.
