Party Poker Review

Summary:
Party Poker is one of the largest online poker sites in the world. With a player base as large as Party Poker’s finding a game at the limits you like are easy. Party Poker features software that is very good and easy to use. They also offer a good (not great) bonus. Overall, Party Poker is one of the better places to play online poker. They no longer accept players from the USA. If you are from the USA you will have to look elsewhere (try Bodog or Full Tilt).
Just a couple of years ago, Party Poker was the largest online poker room. When they decided to stop allowing players from the USA in late 2006 the number of overall players playing at Party Poker dropped dramatically. Traffic from the USA made up over half of the players at Party Poker. Needless to say Party Poker took a big hit.

But they have since recovered very nicely. They are now about the second or third largest online poker site.

They have done an excellent job of marketing their poker room to players outside of the USA. They have created content in over 13 languages making it easier for players from all over the world to play at Party Poker.

Back when I first started playing at Party Poker getting a game was very easy. Being from the USA, I’m no longer allowed to play at Party Poker. Considering how they have grown over the last year it should still be easy to find a game at the limits you like.

When I did play at Party Poker, there were definitely many soft players at the lower limits and again, considering how successful they have been in signing up new players I doubt that has changed much.

Party Poker has been busy adding some very interesting features for its players. They have a no download poker room allowing you to sign in and play from any computer with an Internet connection. They have added more limits to their games giving you more choices, and added more buy in levels to their Sit n Go tournaments. It seems to me as if Party Poker is going all out to make the existing players happy and doing everything possible to bring new players in. They have definitely been successful in doing this.

Another real nice feature is the ability to resize your table, and if you are playing at multiple tables you can even tile or cascade the tables.

Party Poker is owned and operated by PartyGaming, which has been around since 1997 and they operate several other sites – Party Casino, Party Bingo, Party Bets and Party Gammon.

Party Poker Bonus

Party Poker offers it new players a 30% bonus up to $150. While not the biggest bonus around, it’s not very difficult to earn and is still a nice boost to your overall bankroll.

In addition to Texas Holdem Party Poker offers the opportunity to play Omaha, Omaha/8, stud, and stud hi-lo games at all limits, from lower limits to high stakes. The no-limit ring games offer buy-in’s as low as $10 per game, and the limit games have betting limits starting from 5 cents.

Party Poker also offers you progressive bad beat jackpots. While you can potentially win the jackpot with a bad beat, the real opportunity to make money is the loose games that players tend to play at the bad beat tables. It’s not uncommon to see players taking all kinds of risks hoping to hit that bad beat jackpot. A nice tight game can really help you take down some big pots.

As you would expect with an online poker room as big as PartyPoker, there is a lot of tournament action. You’ll find plenty of multi-table and sit n go tournaments. Best of all with the way Party Poker allows you to filter tournaments, finding one that you like is even easier.

Every Sunday, they hold a $300,000 guaranteed tournament. The entry fee is only $215. You can also play in qualifiers to earn your entry into the tournament for a lot less.

Party Poker has also introduced a deal making facility. Deal making allows players at the final table of a tournament to make a deal for all or part of the remaining prize pool. Deal making is part of the automated process that allows players to choose pre-determined deal structures and custom payouts. Deal making is now available for most real money, multi-table tournaments with a cash-only prize pool.

Party Poker also makes it easy for you to find a tournament at they levels you feel comfortable playing. The tournaments start every 10 minutes, and you will see that each time slot each time slot corresponds to a specific limit. This makes it easy for you to know when your preferred tournament is starting!

They are probably best known for “The Party Poker Million” which is a big event that takes place annually on a cruise ship.

Party Poker allows players to win frequent player points. “PartyPoints” can be exchanged for cash, entries into freeroll tournaments, or merchandise in the Party Poker store.

My bottom line on Party Poker is that it is an excellent place to play for non-USA players. Featuring very good software, loose players at the low limits and plenty of tournaments to choose from, you’ll find that Party Poker is one of the best places to play online poker.
