How To Play
Razz (also Seven
Card Stud Low, 7 Card Stud Lo)
Razz is a variation of seven
card stud. Razz is played using Ace to Five low
hand rules. Poker games that use low hand rules
just means that pairs count against you. Hands
with no pairs beat hands with pairs and hands
with pairs beat hands with three of a kind.
The objective is to get the
lowest hand possible. Straights and Flushes are
not taken into consideration. The best possible
hand in Razz is A-2-3-4-5.
Hands that do not have any
pairs are compared to one another by the highest
ranking card. The high hand in Razz will lose.
Aces are played as a low card.
Razz starts out with all of
the players seated at the table posting a small
ante. Once the antes have been posted each
player is then dealt three cards. Two of the
cards are dealt face down and the third card is
dealt face up.
The player that has the
highest face up card is required to begin the
betting with a forced bet. This forced bet is
called 'The Bring In'. The bring in bet is used
to help force the action.
The action then moves
clockwise around the table. The players at the
table can call, raise to the lower limit
(completing the bet) or fold. The betting is
capped at three bets in any round.
Once the first round of
betting is over, each player receives another
card. This card is dealt face up. This is
followed by another round of betting beginning
with the player whose up cards make the best
hand (the lowest hand is considered the best
hand).
After the round of betting has
been completed each player is dealt a card face
up. This is followed by another round of
betting. The betting begins with the player
whose up cards make the best hand. The lowest
hand is the best hand. Each player still in the
game has a total of five cards.
After the round of betting has
been completed each player receives another card
which is dealt face up. Once again this is
followed by a round of betting. The betting
begins with the player whose up cards make the
best hand. Each player still in the game now has
six cards. Two cards are face down and four
cards are face up.
After the betting has been
completed each player that is still in the game
will be dealt one final card. This card is dealt
face down. This is followed by the final round
of betting.
When the final round of
betting is over it is then time for the
showdown. The remaining players reveal their
cards. The winner in Razz is the player that has
the lowest hand.
