You will find High Limit Poker games in online poker rooms that start out at the $15/$30 level.  You can even find games as high as $1000/$2000 in some poker rooms.  You can expect to face really good players along with some big pots to be won in these games.  By putting in a lot of time playing online and studying your game you can certainly get to the $15/$30 level and higher.

High Limit Poker Strategy

Too many poker players out there do not realize the differences between high limit poker and low limit poker. While it may seem like a good idea to jump from one to another; it probably is not. There are not very many players that are good at high limit poker. If you feel that you may be one of these few people then it is important that you understand that it takes a different strategy in order to beat high stakes poker. When you move up to that level; you are dealing with a whole other breed.

High stakes players are generally very aggressive and strong. They will try over and over again to eat you up and spit you out. If you are not careful; that is exactly what they will do to you. The number one thing to realize is that you have to be willing to lose money to win money. If you are going to beat this game; you have to play it the same as if you were playing any other limit. That may sound confusing considering that it is so different; but consider the following.

There is a big difference between high limit and low limit poker, but it is still poker. The players will be better and there is going to be a lot more money involved. Still, you will have different types of players and different games. Some of the games will be loose while others will be tight. You have to be able to keep in mind that these are just normal people you are playing against. There is nothing stopping you except for your own mind; from beating these players.

You have to be able to adjust your playing style and really adapt to different players. When you are playing you have to really forget about the money. If you are afraid to lose that money, you really shouldn’t be playing in high limit poker games. Until you are comfortable you would really just want to stick to lower limits.

Don't Back Down

The players will be better and more aggressive. You are not going to have easy competition when you play high limits. Most of the players in high limits are for real. They are probably either rich (which can be dangerous) or professionals (which is even more dangerous). There is nothing stopping you from being the best at the table, but you cannot be afraid. Stick to the basics, read your players and follow your gut. The rest is going to fall into place. Do not fold just because your opponent decided to go all in with $10,000. If you think you have him beat, you have to call.

Making a name for yourself at these tables and developing a sold reputation is going to help you out a lot as well. With more respect players are going to tend to back off more and quit with the bullying. If you are smart, you would let them bully you and take full advantage of it every time. There is a big difference between high limit and low limit poker; but it is still poker. Play your game and do not let the game play you.
